Young and talented filmmaker Tharun Bhascker has his own mark in Telugu cinema. He is making a comeback of sorts with his first directorial in the last five years, Keeda Cola which released in theaters today. Here is our review of the film.

Story: Vaastu, Kaushik, and Vara Raj are a bunch of nobodies who set out on a mission to sue a beverage manufacturing company after they find a cockroach in their iced drink. All hell breaks loose when they pursue the case. 

How did the actors perform?

Brahmanandam plays an important role in the film and he is a class act, as we all know. His balanced comedy is a key trait of the film. Chaitanya Rao, Rag Mayur, Raghu Ram, and Jeevan are all seen in important roles and they deliver excellent performances. The film has an exceptional lot of talented actors. 

What about the technical finesse?

Tharun Bhascker is back to wielding the megaphone after 5 years and he does a moderate job at it. He also acts in the film apart from directing it. The soundtrack by Vivek Sagar is of elite league though.

Analysis:

Keeda Cola is a whacky comedy caper that takes interesting twists and turns through its course. But the issue with the film is that the emotional core isn't stable and it messes up the viewing experience every now and again.

The core premise surrounding the cockroach bottle is fresh but the narration keeps going in different ways. The plot goes around the bottle, an aspiring politician, an ailing grandfather, and a budding lawyer. 

There are a couple of hilarious comedy blocks that bring the house down for a couple of times in the opening half. The latter half is also spread with a few comedy blocks but they are few and far between. 

Every good comedy scene is followed by an incoherent sequence that has no real motive in the screenplay. Tharun should be better focused on the screenplay, for being the fine filmmaker that he is. 

Verdict: Instead of going around the whole plot like a headless chicken, the narrative could've been focused on the Keeda cola bottle which would've made for a far more compelling watch. But for comedy lovers, the film can make for a decent one-time watch this weekend.
